The steps are rather simple: Turn off the Apple wireless keyboard, better yet remove the batteries. After much troubleshooting and looking for solutions on the web involving deleting preferences etc it turned out that when I turned off Bluetooth Wi-Fi was restored in that it was fast and useable. Why Should I Reset Network Settings? Resetting the network settings can give your iPhone a “fresh start” and allow it to connect to Bluetooth devices or WiFi networks that may have been problematic. (If you don't see it there, you need to check Show Bluetooth in menu bar in System Preferences -> Bluetooth. To reset connections on a Mac, click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar at top left corner of the screen. However, if updating the macOS to the latest firmware doesn’t work for you, it’s recommended to reset the Bluetooth Module.
